Carley Ceshker named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Carley Ceshker (Lake Geneva, Wis./unattached) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on January 3, 2023.
Ceshker, a 15-year-old high school freshman, won the 123-pound weight class and won the Dan Gable Outstanding Wrestler Award in the inaugural women’s division at the Midlands Championships in Hoffman Estates, Ill. on December 30.
Ceshker opened the event with a 10-0 technical fall in the quarterfinals over Hannah Lawrence of Wyoming Seminary. In the semifinals, Ceshker scored a 7-6 victory over No. 1 seed Amani Jones of North Central College. Jones was a 2021 WCWWC All-American and is currently ranked No. 3 in her weight among NCAA athletes. In the finals, Ceshker scored a 31-second fall over No. 2 seed Gabby Skidmore of Augsburg University.
Ceshker is currently ranked No. 7 at 122 pounds in the National Girls High School Rankings. She was a 2022 16U Girls Folkstyle Nationals champion, and placed second in the 2022 16U National Championships in freestyle in Fargo, N.D.
Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.
