10 champions crowned at UWW U15 Greco-Roman Nationals

Wisconsin Dells, Wis. – The Greco-Roman portion of the U15 Nationals concluded tonight with ten wrestlers earning titles. Tomorrow, the freestyle division kicks off, and the highest placers across both styles will earn spots on the U15 Pan Am Championship Team which will compete in Mexico City, Mexico in October.

The tournament’s outstanding wrestler award went to Vince Bouzakis at 57 kg. Bouzakis earned a pin, two technical falls and a decision en route to the best-of-three finals. He claimed the title with two-straight technical falls over Phoenix Contos, 14-5 and 8-0.

44 kg featured the only finals series to go all three matches. After dropping the first bout, 4-1, Cooper Hilton staged a comeback to claim the next two matches, 5-1 and 6-3, over Isaiah Cortez.

In the 52 kg finals, Jackson Heslin put on an impressive display, earning two technical falls (8-0 and 10-0) over Brock Weiss.

Garrett Kawczynski was the round robin champion at 85 kg. Kawczynski earned three technical falls in three matches including an 8-0 victory over De'Alcapon Veazy to clinch the title. At the other end of the weight class spectrum, Domenic Munaretto defeated Slater Hicks, 3-2 and 2-0, to win the 38 kg bracket.

Haakon Peterson brought home the title at 41 kg over Ezekiel Witt. Peterson won their first match 6-2 before pouring it on in the second match, 11-0.

Ladarion Lockett pitched a shutout in his best-of-three finals at 62 kg, earning 4-0 and 8-0 victories over Brodie Dominique. At the next weight class up, 68 kg, Hudson Rogers defeated Emil Necula 7-5 and 5-4 to win his title.

75 kg featured perhaps the most dominant wrestler in the tournament Aeoden Sinclair. Recording four technical falls in four total matches, Sinclair defeated Brent Slade in the finals, 10-0 and 9-0.
