Junior Greco-Roman action begins; Junior freestyle champion Webster headlines action

Fargo, N.D. — Junior Greco-Roman wrestling kicked off Thursday in the FargoDome, the final tournament of the week’s action. Several notable names headline the action, including junior freestyle champion Kannon Webster of Illinois (120).
Also in the field at 195 pounds is Florida’s Ryan Cody, who was a 2019 Junior Nationals runner-up.
Five wrestlers who earned runner up status in the junior freestyle tournament are also looking to compete for Greco-Roman titles: Minnesota’s Brandon Morvari (106), Illinois’ Benjamin Aranda (113), Washington’s Yusief Lillie (120), New Jersey’s Daniel Wask (152) and Iowa’s Aiden Riggins (160).
Webster fired out of the gate with a pair of tech fall wins, victories over opponents from Maryland and Idaho to advance. He’ll see California’s Paul Kelly in the Round of 16. Cody also won his first two matches via tech fall and will face Iowa’s Grant Nason in the Round of 16.
Today’s junior Greco-Roman action will continue tonight at 4:30 p.m. CST. The session will feature Round of 16 matches and consolation action. Every match can be watched live on FloWrestling.
