ORLANDO, Fla. - Wyoming Seminary finished with a perfect 10-0 record to claim top honors in the girls division of the Sunshine National Duals, a loaded USA Wrestling-sanctioned freestyle dual meet tournament this past weekend.
Wyoming Seminary was dominant along the way, outscoring opponents by a combined total of 793-133. Undefeated wrestlers during the tournament for SEM were Carina Giangeruso, Reese Larramendy, Giada Croteau, Emma Bacon, Charlotte Gilfoil, Faith Bartoszek, Erica Pastoriza and Chloe Charlesworth.
“It was a tremendous team effort this weekend. I am very proud of the support shown for one another and high energy displayed by these young ladies. Our veteran leaders stepped up and set the tone for the rest of the team. It was exciting to see such hard, physical, and technically sound wrestling from our younger wrestlers and throughout the lineup.”
The Michigan Revolution finished second and the Hammer Chicks was third, both with 8-2 records. Lady Pride Black was fourth and Ford Dynasty WC was fifth, both which had 7-3 records. There were 11 teams in the tournament from across the nation. The event was a complete round robin, with every team wrestling against the other 10 teams.
There were numerous individuals from the most recent National Girls High School rankings who competed at the tournament. There were only 19 wrestlers who completed the weekend with undefeated records, including two No. 1 ranked high school stars, Sabrina Nauss of the Michigan Revolution (180) and Eliana Bommarito of the Michigan Revolution (222).
