Bruntil to compete in women’s freestyle in Romania and Peters to enter Beach World Series event in Italy this weekend

Two talented U.S. wrestlers will compete in international tournaments this weekend in Europe.
Emma Bruntil (Acme, Wash./Titan Mercury WC/Bearcat WC) will compete at 62 kg at the Ion Corneanu International in Bucharest, Romania, September 4-5. This is one of the most competitive fall international competitions on the UWW schedule.
Bruntil will compete in preliminary competition on Saturday, September 4, which runs through the semifinals. If she advances to a medal match or is pulled into repechage, she would wrestling on Sunday, September 5, which is when the tournament concludes with the medal matches.
Bruntil is a junior at McKendree University, and a two-time NCWWC (NCAA-only) national champion. She has earned a spot on the 2021 U.S. U23 World Team, and was a U.S. Senior Open champion in December 2019.
Michael Peters (Quincy, Ill.) will compete at 70 kg at the Rome Beach World Series event in Rome, Italy, September 3-4.
A wrestler at Marysville University, Peters placed fifth at the 2017 Beach World Championships, and has won the U.S. Beach Nationals in the past. Peters was third at the 2019 Zagreb Beach World Series Final in Croatia, and placed third in the 2019 Beach World Series final standings.
Peters will compete in Group Rounds on Friday, September 3. On Saturday, September 4, Group Rounds will be completed, and if Peters advances to the bracket portion of his weight class, he will have an opportunity to wrestle for a medal on that day.
USA Wrestling will do its best to get results from these competitions this weekend.
