Fargo Summer Beach Showcase for youth and adults held Sunday, first of four Beach events this week in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. – The first of four USA Wrestling sanctioned Beach Wrestling events held alongside the 2022 USMC Junior & 16U Nationals was held at Gastropub Volleyball on Friday night, with competition in youth divisions and adult divisions.

Champions were crowned in the 8U/10U division, the 12U/14U division, the Senior division and the Masters division.

The action was competitive and a nice group of wrestling athletes, families and coaches came out for a good time and some great food. Competitors from about 10 states were entered.

8U/10U champions were Logan Burger of Tech Team WC (62), Toby Voss of North Dakota (68) and Oliver Davidson of Tech Team WC (79).

12U/14U winners including Riley Smith of Pitt Bull WC (70), Max Bell of All-Phase Wrestling Club (84), Rhys Safratowich of Grand Forks Gladiators WC (93) , Cole Sauvageau of Tech Team WC (110), Elijah Greenwaldt of Minnesota (116). Ryder Sprague of Cobra All-Stars (129) and Leighton Hendrickson of North Dakota (155).

Senior Men champions were Kegan Calkins of Illinois (70 kg) and Colton Looper of Arkansas (100 kg). Masters champions were Kegan Calkins of Illinois (78 kg) and Garrett Litzinger of Grand Forks Gladiators WC (100 kg).

Athletes participating at the USMC Junior & 16U Nationals will have an opportunity to wrestle in the events on three other days this week, all at Gastropub Volleyball, which is located at 3234 43rd St South in Fargo.

• Sunday, July 17 – 16U Championships, with women from 9:00 a.m. – Noon and men from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Monday, July 18 – Junior Men’s Championships from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Thursday, July 21 – Junior Women’s Championships from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
