Women’s College Opens this past weekend: Warrior Open, Menlo Open

Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend. Here is this week’s report, with the Warrior Open in Nebraska and the Menlo Open in California.

WARRIOR OPEN
at Fremont, Neb., February 12

Notes
: Hosted by No. 17 NAIA Midland, more than 20 college teams came together, mostly from the NAIA but with some NJCAA and club teams. NAIA No. 16 Hastings had the most individual champions with four: Larissa Kaz (123), Tabitha Wood (136), Kaydince Turner (143) and Taylor Rickley (170). The other six champions came from six separate teams. Host Midland had the 101-pound champion, Esther Walker. Also winning were Emma Cochran of NAIA No. 2 Grand View (109), Josie Bartishofski of NAIA Jamestown (116), Sophia Smith of NAIA No. 19 Oklahoma City (130), Kaylynn Albrecht of NAIA No. 18 Baker (155) and Kelani Corbett of NAIA No. 12 Missouri Valley (191). Corbett is currently ranked No. 1 in the NAIA.

Hosted at NAIA No. 4 Menlo College, teams came from the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and club programs. NCAA No. 6 Simon Fraser led with four individual champions: Maddie Mackenzie (109), Victoria Seal (116), Jade Trolland (136) and Emily Cue (170). Host Menlo Colege had three outright champions in Kayla Mckinley-Johnson (101), Shannon Workinger (155) and Tavia Heidelberg-Tillotson (191). At 130 pounds, Menlo teammates Stephanie Chavez and Louisa Schwab made the finals and chose to take a double forfeit. The champion at 143 was Aine Drury of CCCAA Cerritos College. Unattached Ella Jauregui of California was the champion at 123.
