Updated: U.S. receives draw in all three disciplines at the Pan American Championships in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – The draws have been completed for all three disciplines for the Pan American Senior Championships, which begins tomorrow with the start of Greco-Roman.

The U.S. Greco-Roman Pan American team, which competes May 3-4, will feature seven of the 10 athletes who won 2023 U.S. Open titles in Greco-Roman. The team will include five athletes who are past U.S. Senior World Team members: Dalton Roberts (60 kg), Kamal Bey (77 kg), Spencer Woods (82 kg), Alan Vera (87 kg) and Josef Rau (97 kg).

The U.S. Women’s Freestyle Pan American team, which will compete May 4-5, has six 2022 World medalists on the roster, all who accepted their berth on the team: 2022 World champions Dom Parrish (53 kg) and Amit Elor (72 kg), 2022 World silver medalists Helen Maroulis (57 kg) and Kayla Miracle (62 kg) and 2022 World bronze medalists Sarah Hildebrandt (50 kg) and Mallory Velte (65 kg). In addition, 2021 World bronze medalist Forrest Molinari (68 kg) is competing.

The U.S. Men’s Freestyle Pan American team, which competes May 5-6, will feature six 2022 Senior World medalists, all who accepted their berth on the team: 2022 World champions Kyle Dake (74 kg), Jordan Burroughs (79 kg) and Kyle Snyder (97 kg) plus 2022 World silver medalists Thomas Gilman (57 kg), Yianni Diakomihalis (65 kg) and Zain Retherford (70 kg).

The 2023 Pan American Championships is the final qualifying event for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. The USA must still qualify athletes in four weight classes: Greco-Roman 67 kg, Greco-Roman 87 kg, Greco-Roman 130 kg, Women’s Freestyle 68 kg. The top four athletes in each weight class whose nation has not already qualifier at that weight class will earn their nation a spot at the Pan American Games.
