Fort Worth, TX - USA Wrestling has chosen Fort Worth to host the 2023 USA Wrestling Senior Nationals, as well as its Folkstyle Tour of America Stockyard Stampede, December 15-17.

These championship events will take place at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Fort Worth was chosen as part of a competitive bidding process led by the Fort Worth Sports Commission.

“It has been our absolute honor and privilege to work with the amazing team at USA Wrestling over the years and we are extremely excited to once again welcome their athletes, coaches and fans to experience all Fort Worth has to offer,” said Jason Sands, Executive Director of the Fort Worth Sports Commission.

The Senior Nationals will feature the nation’s best wrestlers in the three Olympic disciplines, men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman. More than 300 Senior-level athletes are expected to compete, in one of the most important events in the qualifying series for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in State College, Pa. in April.  Fort Worth last hosted the Senior Nationals in 2019.

The Folkstyle Tour of America Stockyard Stampede has been hosted in Fort Worth every year since 2019 and has seen participation more than double. This is part of USA Wrestling’s annual Folkstyle Tour of America, which provided quality youth folkstyle wrestling competition in strategic locations across the nation. The Stockyard Stampede is expected to break records for participation with more than 1200 athletes.

USA Wrestling and Fort Worth have partnered on a number of major events in the past, led by the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling, held in Dickies Arena in 2021. The U.S. Olympic Team Trials was an amazing achievement, held during the COVID-19 pandemic. By following specific health protocols and other procedures, USA Wrestling, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Fort Worth were able to allow spectators to witness the nation’s best wrestlers earn their berths on the Tokyo Olympic Team.

“USA Wrestling is pleased to partner with Fort Worth Sports Commission and the Fort Worth community once again. The Senior Nationals is one of the most important events in our qualifying series for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team, and we are confident that Fort Worth will once again showcase our sport at the highest level. We are also excited to continue to build the Stockyard Stampede youth event into a premier youth competition which serves the wrestling community in Texas and beyond,” said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling National Events Director.

In total, the USA Wrestling championship events will generate more than $1.5 million in Economic Impact for the city of Fort Worth.
