Martinez named Outstanding Wrestler in UWW Futures in freestyle; three win double titles in Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Daniel Martinez of the Sunkist Monster Garage, the champion at 38 kg, was named Outstanding Wrestler in the freestyle division at the UWW Futures at the South Point Arena.

Martinez scored a technical fall over Daniel Corbin of Wisconsin, 10-0 in 2:09 in the finals. He won all four of his matches by technical fall.

Three athletes were able to win UWW Futures double titles this week, by capturing both the freestyle and Greco-Roman divisions: Elliott Harris of Elevate WC (33 kg), Colton Bryce of Legacy Dragons Wrestling (35 kg) and Devin Garcia of Suples WC (41 kg).

Winning by pin in the freestyle finals was Brock Taylor of the Quest School Of Wrestling, who pinned Rocky Ruiz of California in 33 seconds at 28 kg.

Other individual champions were Matthew Campos of Red Wave Wrestling (31 kg), Marco Hutcherson of Young Guns WC (45 kg) and Jessie Valenzuela of Rough House Wrestling (51 kg).

Campos was a repeat champion from last year. Campos won at 28 kg in 2023, moving up a weight class this year.
