No. 1 Penn State's win streak hits 53, Nebraska up to No. 3 in NWCA Div. I Coaches Poll

Manheim, Pennsylvania – With a pair of ranked wins, including a 29-6 win over then-No. 3 Iowa, top-ranked Penn State pushed its win streak to 53 duals in a row and another week as the unanimous No. 1 in most recent NWCA Division I Men’s Wrestling Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.

One of the last two unbeatens in the country in Division I, Penn State improved to 10-0 after a 35-3 win over No. 14 Rutgers at the Bryce Jordan Center. Oklahoma State (13-0) remained second, followed by Nebraska (11-1), Iowa (10-2) and Iowa State. Penn State’s win streak sits 13th best all-time among men's college wrestling programs, is the second longest in school history behind a 60-match streak that spanned from 2015-2019 and is the sixth longest in Division I history.

The Cowboys topped then-No. 12 South Dakota State 31-6 in Stillwater, while Nebraska moved up to third, the Huskers highest spot in the rankings since they were ranked second in January of 2020. Nebraska topped Michigan 25-7 in Lincoln over the weekend. Iowa State beat No. 17 Northern Iowa 27-11 to improve to 12-2 on the season.

Ohio State, Missouri, NC State, Cornell and Michigan round out the Top 10.

Ohio State improved to 14-2 with a 32-6 win over then-No. 22 Indiana. NC State (13-2) beat Virginia 38-3, while Cornell swept a pair of Ivy League duals. The Big Red (10-3) beat Penn 26-8 and Princeton 35-3.

South Dakota State (12-3) jumped up one spot after splitting duals in Oklahoma. The Jackrabbits beat then-No. 23 Oklahoma 20-13 before falling to second-ranked Oklahoma State.

Stanford (10-2) continued to stay sharp. The Cardinal beat then-No. 25 Cal Poly 30-9 to stay unbeaten in the Pac-12. Arizona State also beat Cal Poly, evening the Sun Devils' record at 5-5. ASU popped up four spots this week to No. 20, while the loss was one of two on the weekend for the Mustangs, who fell out of the Top 25.

Campbell (11-3) broke into the Top 25 for the first time this season. The Camels topped transitional Division I member and SoCon foe Bellarmine 36-7 and The Citadel 35-6. It’s the first time the Camels have been ranked since the appeared at No. 25 on January 11, 2022. All 13 Campbell appearances in the Top 25 have come since the 2019-20 season.

Methodology: The NWCA Division I Men’s Wrestling Coaches Poll is voted on by two coaches from each Division I wrestling conference. Each first-place vote is worth 25 points, 24 points for a second-place vote, 23 for a third-place vote and so on through to one point for a 25th-place vote. The poll is based on dual meet results. Teams who are not competing this season are not included in the voting process.
