Beach Wrestling returns to Fargo: practice on Friday, girls event on Sunday and boys event on Thursday

For the third straight summer, there will be a variety of Beach Wrestling opportunities available for athletes who are traveling to Fargo, N.D. to participate in the USMC Junior/16U National Championships.

All of the Beach Wrestling activities will return to the Gastropub Billiards and Volleyball, which is located at 3234 43rd St S, Fargo, ND 58104. The wrestling community has dubbed this “Fargo Beach” for one week every year. There will be a competition day for girls and a competition day for boys, with the addition of a special practice session early in the week.

The competition schedule begins on Sunday, July 14, with the Junior/16U Girls Beach Wrestling division. Check-in Gastropub Billiards and Volleyball will be at 2:30 p.m., with competition set from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. All participants in the Beach Wrestling will have time to return to the FargoDome to enjoy the girls freestyle finals which begin at 6:00 p.m.

The Junior/16U Boys Beach Wrestling division will be held on the “off-day” at the FargoDome, Thursday, July 18. Check-in at Gastropub Billiards and Volleyball will be at 8:30 a.m., with competition scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 noon.

Athletes from across the nation are expected to compete in this year's event. Results from the Beach Wrestling competition will be posted on TheMat.com during the week. It offers athletes a chance for additional high-level competition in a fun and relaxed setting.

New this year is the Fargo Beach Party and Practice Session on Friday, July 12 at Gastropub Billiards and Volleyball from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. This event is FREE and open to the public. We will have music, food, and open rings for anyone wishing to come out and give beach wrestling a try. There will be practice and instruction for all USA Wrestling members who wish to participate. This informal event will be a great chance for wrestlers of all ages in the Fargo area to come out and get their toes in the sand to help us kick off the week at Fargo Beach.
