Pierson Manville named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare

Pierson Manville (State College, Pa./Team Pennsylvania) has been named the USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on June 26, 2024.
Manville was a critical member of Team Pennsylvania at the 2024 Air Force Special Warfare Junior National Duals held in Tulsa, Okla., last week. He posted a perfect 14-0 record across the Greco-Roman and freestyle tournaments, going 7-0 in each style. The Pennsylvania men finished as Greco-Roman runners-up and third place in freestyle.
During the Greco-Roman event, Manville recorded six technical falls while only surrendering two combined match points to his opponents. Similarly, he logged five technical falls and a pin throughout his freestyle competition. Manville was named to the All-Tournament Team in both styles.
Notably, Manville has wrestled the Junior Duals gauntlet four years running, going undefeated in both styles on each occasion. His career record at the event is an impressive 61-0, with 29 freestyle wins and 32 Greco-Roman wins.
Currently ranked the No. 3 wrestler at 144 pounds in the FloWrestling National High School Rankings, Manville is a three-time Pennsylvania high school state finalist and 2022 state champion for State College Area High School. He is committed to wrestle at Arizona State next season.
Manville has been especially active on the USA Wrestling circuit this summer. He doubled up at two USA Wrestling regional events, Phil Portuese Northeast Regional and Northwest Regional, earning first place in both Greco-Roman and freestyle at the Junior level. He was runner-up at the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals and placed in the top five at the U20 Nationals and U20 World Team Trials in freestyle.
The past three years, Manville has competed at the USMC Junior and 16U Nationals held in Fargo, N.D. He earned a 16U Greco-Roman title and runner-up freestyle finish in 2021, followed by third-place efforts at the Junior level in both styles the past two years.
