Fourteen remain eligible for Triple Crown Award, champions crowned in Greco-Roman at Kids Nationals

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The first two days of the 2024 Kids Nationals unfolded with exciting matches, as Greco-Roman action was completed at the ImOn Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

This is the second and third leg of the coveted Kids Triple Crown, which is awarded to wrestlers who win USA Wrestling national titles in folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman during the same year. The first leg of the Triple Crown was the Kids Folkstyle Nationals in Fort Wayne, Ind., January 27-28.

There are 14 athletes still eligible to win the prestigious USA Wrestling Triple Crown across the four age divisions following the completion of Greco-Roman action on Saturday.

In the 14U division, four athletes finished atop the podium and remain in the running for the award. Jeremy Carver of Contenders Wrestling Academy at 92 pounds, Jaxsen Bailey of South Side Wrestling Club at 102 pounds, Reece Movahead of American Dream Wrestling Club at 106 pounds and Kade Splinter of Team Nazar Training Center at 187 pounds.

The 12U division featured three athletes that also claimed titles at in folkstyle and Greco-Roman this year. Jacob Graber of Summit Wrestling Academy at 58 pounds, Korbin Kiessling of Rampage Wrestling at 63 pounds and Kody Doran of Camdenton Wrestling Club at 160 pounds went undefeated en route to titles in Greco-Roman at the 2024 Kids Nationals.

The 10U division showcased several athletes who have finished strong in both folkstyle and Greco-Roman this year. Landon Childers of Contenders Wrestling Academy at 49 pounds, Darek Diaz of ISI Wrestling Club at 53 pounds, Oscar Ormond of North Carolina at 56 pounds, Gavin Arnold of Kennett Community Wrestling Club at 67 pounds, and Iaromir Zhukovskii of Built By Brunson Wrestling at 77 pounds all went undefeated to claim titles in Greco-Roman on Friday and Saturday.

This year, the Triple Crown award has been expanded to include the 8U division. Two athletes won their respective weight classes in the Greco-Roman divisions. Bentley Baker of Ravage Wrestling Club at 49 pounds and William Hesz of Spring Hills Wrestling at 85 pounds are among those still in contention for the prestigious award.

The event continues with freestyle action in all four age groups. The 14U and 8U divisions in freestyle will be completed on Saturday afternoon. The 12U and 10U tournaments will conclude on Sunday.
