Indian Hills repeats as NJCAA Women’s Invitational champion with two titlists

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Indian Hills CC, led by two champions and 16 All-Americans, repeated as team champions at the NAIA Women’s National Invitational on Saturday.
Claiming national titles for Indian Hills were Genesis Gilmore of Indian Hills (155) and Eliana Bommarito (235). Bommarito repeated as national champion.
In the finals, Gilmore knocked off 2023 nationals champion Ferny Hernandez of Iowa Western by technical fall, 14-4 at 155 pounds. Bommarito pinned Indian Hills teammate Karla Padilla Zepeda in 1:29 in the finals.
Indian Hills won the title with 307.5 points, with Iowa Central in second with 237 points and Umpqua in third with 204.5 points.
Repeating as NJCAA individual national champions were Alexis Miller of Carl Albert (109) and Victoriana Kim of Southwestern Oregon (123)
Besides Gilmore, two of the other champions defeated 2023 NAIA national champions in the finals to claim their first title.
Calli Connally of Carl Albert State won a 3-3 criteria decision over 2023 national champion Dutchess King of Indian Hills at 101.
Flavia Nagatani of Iowa Western powered to a 12-1 technical fall over 2023 national champion Shammilka Miranda Diaz of Indian Hills at 116 pounds.
Winning the first NJCAA Women’s Invitational title their school history was Corrie Williams of Snow (136) and Eve Herlyn of Southeast (143). Williams scored a 13-3 technical fall over Malia Kehne of Carl Albert State, while Herlyn stopped Abigail Trayhorn of Snow, 14-8.
Other individual champions were Zainab Ibrahim of Umpqua (130), Briana Araujo Batista of Iowa Central (170) and Taylor Knox of Southwestern Oregon (191)
