Corrected: Six weight classes to watch at the Bill Farrell Memorial International in New York City, Nov. 8-9
by Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling
Each year, top wrestlers from across the United States and from around the world come to the Big Apple for the Bill Farrell Memorial International at the historic New York Athletic Club in Manhattan, New York City. The event is held in honor of the late Bill Farrell, a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, an NYAC Wrestling Chairman and 1972 U.S. Olympic freestyle head coach.
With some late additions to the field, which was first published last Friday, here are six weight classes that should have some excellent competition. The Greco-Roman and women’s wrestling competition will be on Friday, November 8. The men’s freestyle action is set for Saturday, November 9.
The competition will be broadcast live on FloWrestling. Follow the results on FloArena.
Women’s freestyle 76 kg
Among those registered at 76 kg is 2024 U23 World champion Yelena Makoyed, who has been on the Senior National Team in the past. Add in 2022 Senior World Team member Dymond Guilford, also a 2022 U23 World silver medalist. These three stars are among those who should challenge for future World Team berths. Jumping up in weight is age-group World medalist Alexandria Glaude. Makoyed and Guilford have been multiple college national champions, Makoyed in the NCAA and Guilford in the NAIA. The international athletes to watch include Sandra Guerrero of Puerto Rico, who was a NCWWC national champion last year for Jersey City University. A pair of Canadian wrestlers, Shauna Kuebeck and Vivianne Rouleau, add depth. Kuebeck has competed at the Senior World Championships, and Rouleau at the age-group World level.
Note: Olympic silver medalist Kennedy Blades was mistakenly added to the entry list for this weight class but will not be competing. Apologies for the reporting error and photo which was posted in this story and has been corrected.

This weight class is headlined by 2016 Olympic champion and three-time Senior World champion Kyle Snyder, competing for the first time since he wrestled at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Snyder begins his next Olympic quadrennium by competing in New York against a strong field on U.S. opponents. Michael Macchiavello, an NCAA champ for NC State and a member of the Senior National Team, has showed continued improvement at the world level, winning a 2023 Pan American Championships gold medal. Jay Aiello, a 2021 U23 World bronze medalist and also a past Senior National Team member, is also making a run at this weight. Aiello has twice been third at the U.S. Open. One of the rising stars in men’s freestyle is Justin Rademacher, who is fresh off a bronze-medal performance at the 2024 U23 World Championships. A popular wrestler at this weight class is “Gas Tank” Gary Traub, who was third in the 2023 Senior Nationals. Callum Knox of Canada, a U23 Pan American medalist, along with Luis Perez Sosa of the Dominican Republic, a 2024 Olympian and multiple Pan American medalist, add international flavor to the weight class.

This weight class has a pair of past U.S. Senior World Team members registered, Aliaksandr Kikiniou and RaVaughn Perkins. Kikiniou, who wrestled a week ago at the Senior World Championships for Team USA at the age of 44, was a past Olympian and World medalist for Belarus. Perkins, a 2018 Senior World Team member and two-time Senior Pan American champion, has a wealth of experience and talent. Pursuing Greco-Roman at the Senior level is Peyton Robb, who was a multiple All-American at Nebraska and made a nice run at the recent Senior World Team Trials. Placing third. Robb has a U23 Nationals freestyle title to his credit. Patrick Brackett, a 2024 U23 World Team member, should add additional talent to the field. It will be fun to see Rudy James, who has won a number of Veterans World medals for the USA, as he tests the younger athletes. The USA athletes will need to get past some tough international opponents, including 2020 Olympic silver medalist and two-time Olympian Parviz Nasibov of Ukraine and past Asian U20 champion Abunassyr Omirzak of Kazakhstan.
