NEW YORK N.Y. – The championship finals have been set in women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Bill Farrell Memorial International at the world famous New York Athletic Club on Friday.

Seven U.S. women and four U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers won their semifinals matches and will battle for gold during the second session, which begins at 6:00 p.m. ET.

There are three women’s freestyle weight classes that have an all-USA finals. All of the U.S. women in the finals are past age-group World medalists and are among the top athletes in their weight at the Senior level.

At 50 kg, Emily Shilson and Erin Golston will compete for the gold. Shilson, a five-time college national champion and a past U17 World champion, will face Golston, who won three U20 World medals and is a multiple-time U.S. Open champion.

The 62 kg finals includes Skylar Hattendorf and Alara Boyd, both who won U17 World medals in the past. Boyd is also a past college nationals champion.

At 76 kg, Yelena Makoyed will wrestle Dymond Guilford. Makoyed is fresh off a 2024 U23 World title, while Guilford, a past U23 World silver medalist, was a member of the Senior World Team. Makoyed edged U23 World medalist Alexandria Glaude, 8-7 in a wild semifinal bout.

The other U.S. woman in the finals is Xochitl Mota Pettis at 57 kg, who battles Mia Friesen of Canada for the gold.

There is an all-USA Greco-Roman finals at 60 kg, where Joseph Coach will battle Paxton Creese for the title. It was an all-USA semifinals, as Couch stopped Rhett Peak, 8-5 and Creese scored a 10-2 technical fall over Ruben Calderon.

Two other U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers will go for gold, Peter Del Gallo at 55 kg and Courtney Freeman at 130 kg. Del Gallo will wrestle Marat Garipov of Brazil, while Freeman draws Zviadi Pataridze of Georgia.

Of the nine Greco-Roman finals, six of the matches do not include a U.S. athlete. Ukraine has eight athletes in the championship finals.

Five of the weight classes were round-robin competitions. There were three champions determined in the first session, including American Vayle Rae Baker at 55 kg.

Baker won her two matches in a three-athlete roundrobin, both by technical falls. She stopped Milana Borrelli of the USA, 14-3 and Kendall Detloff of Canada, 10-0. Borrelli and Detloff will compete for the silver medal in the second session.

Two other champions were determined in the session, Macy Malysiak of Canada at 59 kg in women’s freestyle and Viktor Petryk of Ukraine at 63 kg in Greco-Roman.

Based upon the results of the final roundrobin matches in session two, the USA could have two more champions. At 65 kg, Ana Luciano is unbeaten in her first three bouts and could clinch a gold against Jonelle Clarke of Canada. At 72 kg, Skylar Grote won her opening match, and would win the gold with a victory over Faith Telford of Canada.

The competition will be broadcast live on FloWrestling. https://flosports.link/3Sx7Kuo Follow the results on FloArena.
