Anthony Knox named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare

Anthony Knox (Freehold, N.J./Saint John Vianney High School) has been named the USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on October 2, 2024.
At FloWrestling’s Who’s Number One in Johnstown, Pa., September 30, Knox won his 126-pound battle against Aaron Seidel of Pennsylvania, 3-2, for his fourth career victory on Who’s Number One cards.
Competing against Pennsylvania state champion Seidel, Knox had a comeback victory. After there was no first-period takedown, Seidel rode Knox for the entire second period. A Seidel escape in the third period made the score 1-0, with riding time also in Seidel’s favor. Knox scored the winning three-point takedown on a high crotch with 12 seconds left and rode out Seidel. The riding time point for Seidel was not enough as Knox emerged with a one-point victory.
Knox has been invited to Who’s Number One for four straight years and has won his all-star match-up every time.
Knox is a senior for Saint John Vianney High School in New Jersey and is a Cornell commit. He entered Who's Number One as the No. 6 Pound-For-Pound wrestler in the FloWrestling rankings, as well as the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the nation at 126 pounds. Knox is a three-time New Jersey state champion, seeking his fourth title this season. He is also an accomplished freestyle wrestler, winning the 2021 16U Nationals title and placing second in 2022. He was second in the 2023 U17 Nationals, and third in the 2024 U20 Nationals. Knox was second in the U20 World Team Trials in 2024.
