Champions crowned in Boys 11th-12th Grade and 9th-10th Grade divisions at Brian Keck Preseason Nationals

DES MOINES, Iowa – Champions have been crowned in both of the Boys high school divisions completed on Saturday at the Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals, presented by Pritchard Companies, the 11^th-12^th Grade division and the 9^th-10^th grade division.

11^th-12^th Grade summary

• There were no repeat champions in the 11^th-12^th Grade division at the Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals this year.

• Adonis Bonar II of the MWC Wrestling Academy, a 2023 16U Nationals champion in Greco-Roman, was the champion at 190, scoring a wild 25-10 technical fall in the finals over Jack Doughty of Goldman`s Wrestling Academy of the Rockies. It was the second straight year that Doughty placed second in the 11^th-12^th Grade division here.
• Last year, Kiernan Meink of The Best Wrestler was a runner-up in the 9^th-10^th grade division here. This year, he became the 126-pound champion in the 11^th-12^th grade division, edging Mitchell Murphy of the Dubuque Wrestling Club, 1-0.

• At 120 pounds, Tyson Waughtel of Illinois stopped Zaiyahn Ornelas of Team Zapas WC, 7-4. It was the second straight year Ornelas lost in the finals, although last year he was beaten in the 9^th-10^th grade division finals.  
• Earning pins in the finals were Angel Serrano of Pomona Elite (138), Hunter Stevens of Sarbacker Wrestling Academy (144) and Jake Miller of Broken Arrow WC (150).

9^th-10^th Grade summary

• Like the 11^th-12^th Grade division, there were no repeat champions this year in this division. However, the only returning runner-up in this division, Luke Hayden of Eierman Elite WC, was able to come home with a title. Hayden stopped Christian Stoeber of California, 7-3 in the finals at 165 pounds. Last year, Hayden was second at 157 pounds.
• Hudson Chittum of Tennessee, a runner-up last year in the 7^th-8^th Grade division, won the 9^th-10^th grade title at 100 this year. He edged a talented Dylan Nieuwenhuis of Michigan Grappler Training Center, 1-0 in the finals, with an escape as the only point scored.
• At 150 pounds, Pennsylvania’s Thomas Schecterly stopped Thunder Page of the South Central Punishers, 11-7 in the finals. Page was second last year in the 7^th-8^th Grade division.
• There were two pins in the finals, registered by Owen Marshall of the Mat Demon WC (126) and Mason DeRochers of Cobra All-Stars (138).
