This question is for boys high school wrestlers. How can you get outstanding international competition without ever leaving the United States?

The answer? Sign up for the 2025 Journeymen World Classic and Duals, set for April 4-6 in the Union College Fieldhouse in Schenectady, N.Y.

This annual international freestyle event featuring top U.S. wrestlers and national team members from at least a dozen nations is a can’t miss opportunity for those who have set high goals for themselves and want to accelerate their improvement.

At this point, national teams from the following countries will be attending: Armenia, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Spain, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Italy.

The individual freestyle tournament will be held Saturday, April 5, with competition set for High School boys, Middle School Boys and High School Girls.

This unique event uses a round-robin format. For the U.S. boys and the foreign boys, there is a variety of talent levels, from World and Continental medalists as well as those with fewer achievements and less experience. Athletes will be placed with competitors with like skill levels.

There will be a USA vs. The World Duals event on Friday, April 4, plus a Dual Meet Tournament on Sunday, April 6.

The competition will be followed with the Journeymen Wrestling World Camp, hosted on Monday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 8.

(Note – the girls division will feature top domestic talent. The big international opportunity for girls comes in the fall, when the Journeymen Fall Classic and Women’s World Classic is set for September 27-28, 2025 in New York).

Information on the 2025 Journeymen World Classic and Duals

It is still possible for U.S. athletes to register for this amazing opportunity for high-level international competition. This is a small and competitive event and will fill up quickly. Those with interest in competing should immediately email Frank@journeymenwrestling.com to reserve your spot.

The Journeymen World Classic is a great value to those who participate. Normally, a U.S. athlete has to purchase a UWW license for international competition, which costs $100 or more. However, United World Wrestling has waived the UWW license fee for U.S. wrestlers to compete in this event. All you need is a current USA Wrestling membership and pay the entry fee, and you can test yourself against top U.S. athletes as well as talented international opponents.

Wrestlers who aim to make U.S. age-group World and Pan American teams have traditionally come to the World Classic for high-level international matches, and a chance to prepare for the upcoming U.S. Team Trials. Among the stars who have wrestled in the event are Olympic medalist Aaron Brooks, Senior World medalist Yianni Diakomihalis, age-group World champions Greg Kerkvliet, Kurt McHenry and Cohlton Schultz, and many others.

Of the 2024 boys high school champions at the World Classic, six have already competed on at least one U.S. World or Pan American team at the age-group levels: Hayden Schwab (IAWC - Don Bosco HS, 105), Henry Aslikyan (Birmingham Community Charter High School, 113A), Davis Motyka (X-Calibur, 119), Pierson Manville (M2-State College High School, 145A), PJ Duke (KD Training Center, 160A) and Nicholas Sahakian (Sunkist Kids Monster Garage, 285).

There is still time to sign up to compete in this outstanding competition. Email Frank@journeymenwrestling.com to reserve your spot.

The Journeymen World Classic will be broadcast live on FloWrestling.
