The 2024-25 high school season officially begins next Sunday as FloWrestling will host its popular Who’s Number One all-star event at University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Sports Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on September 29, for the 12th annual event. This will be the fourth-straight year with a full slate of both boys and girls matches.

Domenic Munaretto of Illinois, a two-time U17 World Champion (2022 and 2024) and U17 Pan American Champion in both Greco-Roman and freestyle in 2022, will be one of the standout competitors. His match against Ignacio Villasenor of Oklahoma, a 2023 U17 World bronze medalist in freestyle and 2021 U17 Pan American Champion in both styles, is highly anticipated, and the second of the night.

Another exciting matchup will feature Melvin Miller of Pennsylvania, who placed fifth at the 2024 U17 World Championships, against Landon Robideau of Minnesota. Nicholas Sahakian of California, who finished fifth at the 2023 U17 World Championships and is a U17 Pan American Champion in both styles, will face off against Jude Correa of New Hampshire in the fourth match of the event.

Jax Forrest of Pennsylvania, a 2022 U17 World silver medalist and a consistent top performer at Senior events in the United States, will take on Seth Mendoza of Illinois. Forrest is also a member of the 2024 Senior National Team after a strong finish at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. The two have had several exciting matchups in the past, so this match will be one of the most anticipated battles of the evening.

LaDarion Lockett of Oklahoma, a 2023 U17 World Champion and 2024 U20 World silver medalist, will compete against Ryan Burton of New Jersey, adding another boost to the lineup. This is Lockett’s second time competing at Who’s Number One. In 2021, he was edged out by Meyer Shapiro in a 6-3 decision.

The finale features Bo Bassett of Pennsylvania, a three-time age-group World Team member and 2021 U17 World Champion, facing Daniel Zepeda of California. In 2023, Zepeda defeated Bassett by fall at 6:27. In 2021, Bassett defeated Mendoza at this event as part of a futures series.

At 126 pounds, Anthony Knox of New Jersey takes on Aaron Seidel of Pennsylvania in the seventh match of the night. Knox has competed at this event three times in the past and is 3-0, with wins over Leo DeLuca of New Jersey in 2023, Christian Castillo of Arizona in 2022 and Luke Lilledahl in 2021.

The nation’s top boys and girls wrestlers battle for bragging rights and No. 1 rankings in this annual event, which will be broadcast live on FloWrestling. The girls card starts at 2 p.m. Eastern time, with the boys set for about 5 p.m. Eastern time. Doors will open at 1 p.m. for the event.
