Cristelle Rodriguez works a single leg in the U23 55 kg finals at the 2025 U.S. Marine Corps Women’s National Championships.
SPOKANE, Wash. – The U23 championship series headliner between reigning U20 World champion Cristelle Rodriguez and two-time age-group World medalist Amani Jones delivered. Rodriguez took the series in two-straight matches and was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the U23 division at the 2025 U.S. Marine Corps Women’s National Championships.
Points were aplenty in round one with Rodriguez coming away with a 12-6 decision against Jones, who was the defending champion at 55 kg. Round two was a closer, 5-3, contest in favor of Rodriguez, who finished the weekend with a perfect 6-0 record. Rodriguez earned 10-0 wins over every opponent she faced in Spokane save Jones.
Both Rodriguez and Jones are two-time college national champions—Jones in the NCWWC for North Central College, while Rodriguez did so at the NAIA ranks for Doane University. Both are finalists for the USA Wrestling Women’s Collegiate Wrestler of the Year Award, which will be announced next Tuesday.
Earning repeat titles at the U23 level were Heather Crull of Indiana at 50 kg, Elena Ivaldi of California at 53 kg, Adaugo Nwachukwu of Colorado at 62 kg, Brooklyn Hays of Colorado at 68 kg, Jasmine Robinson of Texas at 72 kg and Tristan Kelly of Colorado at 76 kg.
Crull, a 2023 U17 World bronze medalist, was the only champion pushed to a third match on Saturday afternoon at The Podium. She dropped a wild, 15-12, decision to 2024 NCWWC national champion Ava Bayless in round one, then rebounded with a pair of pins to emerge with the national title.
Ivaldi and Nwachukwu took out reigning NCWWC champions in competitive finals series. Ivaldi topped North Central’s Sydney Petzinger with back-and-forth decisions, 10-7 and 12-6. Nwachukwu utilized solid late-match tactics to outlast Grand Valley State’s Katerina Lange, 14-3 and 7-5.
Nwachukwu, Robinson and Kelly are teammates in the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. All three have earned age-group World medals in the past—Nwachukwu a U20 World bronze in 2022, Robinson a U20 World gold in 2024 and U17 World bronze in 2023, and Kelly a U20 World bronze in 2022.

Also claiming U23 titles were Cecilia Williams of Michigan at 57 kg and Isabella Mir of Nevada at 65 kg. Each won her championship series in two matches.
The U.S. Marine Corps Women’s National Championships continue into Saturday evening with the start of the U20 and 14U divisions. U20 will run through the semifinals, with its finals set for 10 a.m. (PT) on Sunday. 14U will wrestle to completion tonight.
