SPOKANE, Wash. – The U20 division finals is bringing the heat—six past age-group World medalists and four returning champions are among the headliners for Sunday morning’s best-of-three championship series that will determine the U20 U.S. World Team in women’s freestyle.
It’ll be a battle of age-group World champions in the 72 kg finals with reigning U20 World champion Jasmine Robinson of Texas set to face 2023 U17 World champion Piper Fowler of Tennessee. Robinson, who won the U23 division earlier today, went 3-0 on her path to the finals with three shutout technical falls. On the opposite side, Fowler powered through her first two matches but was pushed to a 6-4 decision by Iowa’s Keeley Kehrli in the semifinals.
A second all-World medalist final will take place at 50 kg. Four-time age-group World medalist and 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials runner-up Audrey Jimenez stands opposite 2023 U17 World bronze medalist Heather Crull for gold. Both beat past U17 World medalists and newly crowned U17 champions in the semis. Jimenez posted four quick 10-0 techs on the day, including a semifinal win over Jaclyn Bouzakis. Fresh off a U23 title, Crull navigated to the finals with a key 8-2 decision over Morgan Turner in her semifinal.
2023 U17 World bronze medalist Haylie Jaffe and 2024 U20 World bronze medalist Naomi Simon round out the list of medalists slotting in the championship round. Jaffee impressed with four shutout technical falls on her way to the 62 kg finals. Simon pinned all but one of her opponents at 76 kg.
Returning champions in the division back for more are Robinson, Simon, Carissa Qureshi at 57 kg and Cadence Diduch at 65 kg. Notably, Qureshi pinned all four of her opponents on Saturday. She was one-of-three finalists to achieve all pins—Daniella Nugent went five-for-five at 65 kg and Zoey Lints snagged four at 68 kg.
Another notable effort came at 59 kg from Fargo champion Aubre Krazer, who posted all shutout technical falls to make the finals. She will face 2024 U17 World Team member and 2025 U23 Nationals runner-up Bella Williams for gold.
2024 U17 World Team member Everest Leydecker is up against the talented Clare Booe for the 55 kg title. Both are past Fargo champions.
The U20 Women’s finals and medal matches are set for 10 a.m. (PT) on Sunday at The Podium. The 12U, 10U and 8U divisions will also compete, start-to-finish, tomorrow morning.
