Semifinals set for Senior Greco-Roman World Team Trials Group B at 2025 CLAW U.S. Open

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The semifinals for Group B are set, following the quarterfinal rounds of the 2025 Senior Greco-Roman World Team Trials at the CLAW U.S. Open. Group B consisted of the final four weight Greco-Roman weight classes: 82 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg and 130 kg.

The semifinals at 87 kg will be electric, as three of the semifinalists are past Senior World/Olympic Team members. No. 1 seed and 2024 Olympian Payton Jacobson defeated Keenan Wyatt in an 8-0 technical fall in the quarterfinals, setting up a match against 2022 U20 World Team member Adrian Artsisheuskiy.

On the other side, 2023 Senior World Team members Zac Braunagel and Spencer Woods meet in the semifinals. Braunagel, a 2023 U.S. Open champion at this weight class, used an 8-1 decision over Jonathon Fagen to reach a familiar spot. Woods wasted no time with an 8-0 technical fall in the quarterfinals over Lukas Poloncic to advance.

At 82 kg, 2021 Senior World Team member Jesse Porter will see age-group World medalist Andrew Berreyesa in the semis. 2024 U23 World silver medalist Beka Melelashvili picked up a 9-0 quarterfinal technical fall over 2024 U23 Pan American Championships silver medalist Tyson Beauperthuy.

Josef Rau, a 2024 Olympian and three-time Senior World Team member, earned a victory in the quarterfinals with an 8-0 technical fall over Orry Elor. Rau’s semifinal opponent is Timothy Young, who won by 10-1 technical fall in the quarterfinals. Michial Foy defeated Senior National Team member David Tate Orndorff in a 6-3 decision, and is set to face current Senior National Team member Nicholas Boykin in the next round at 97 kg.

The 130 kg semifinals will feature plenty of experience. 2018 World Silver medalist and 2024 Olympian Adam Coon shot into the semifinals with a first-period technical fall over Brandon Ballard. Coon faces Courtney Freeman in the next round at 130 kg.

Three-time Senior World team member and age-group World Champion Cohlton Schultz battles age-group World medalist and Senior National Team member Aden Attao in the semis. Attao pinned Daimon Altamirano in the previous round, breaking through in a back-and-forth bout. Schultz was quick on the mat in both of his prior matches, winning two first-period technical falls. Freeman defeated 2024 U23 World Team member Keith Miley in the quarterfinals, 5-1.

The semifinal round of the Senior Greco-Roman World Team Trials finals for Group B is slated to begin at 4 p.m. PT inside The Expo at World Market Center in Las Vegas. A detailed schedule of events is available at usawrestlingevents.com.
