Lee vs. Ono to highlight FloWrestling Night In America on Feb. 26

On February 26, several of the world’s top stars in wrestling will square off for FloWrestling Night in America. The midweek event features a full card of 13 matches, with top competitors from the United States, Japan, and Mexico facing off inside Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.

The main event of the night sees 2024 Olympic silver medalist and three-time age-group World champion Spencer Lee face 2024 Senior and U20 World Champion Masanosuke Ono of Japan. Lee traditionally competes at 57 kg, while Ono has competed at 61 kg throughout his career. This highly anticipated match will be the highlight of FloWrestling’s event.

David Carr, a two-time age-group World medalist and 2025 Zagreb Open silver medalist, meets Daichi Takatani of Japan in Coralville on Wednesday night. Takatani won silver at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games at 74 kg and bronze at the 2023 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

A pair of Senior National Team members face off in the 11^th match of the evening. 2023 Senior World bronze medalist Zahid Valencia battles two-time age-group World medalist Trent Hidlay. In September, Hidlay reached the finals of the 2024 Senior World Team Trials at 92 kg, where he fell in a 10-6 decision to 2020 Olympic Champion David Taylor. It was Valencia who faced Taylor in a best-of-three championship series, falling in two matches.

In another high profile match on the card, three-time NCAA All-American and 2021 Junior World bronze medalist Bryce Andonian matches up against 2024 Paris Olympian Austin Gomez of Mexico.

Austin DeSanto, a four-time international freestyle medalist and two-time international Greco-Roman medalist, is slated to face Seth Gross, a three-time age-group World Team member, in the ninth match of the night. The pair have met once previously in freestyle, with DeSanto defeating Gross in the semifinals of the 2023 U.S. Open, 5-4.

Nate Jackson, a Senior National Team member at 97 kg and 2024 Senior Pan American Championships gold medalist, will face Kennedy Monday in the eighth match of the evening. Monday has competed in two events this year, winning silver at the Dan Kolov in Bulgaria and gold at the Henri Deglane in France.

There are also two women’s freestyle matches on the card. Xochitl Mota-Pettis, a past Senior National Team member and U23 World Team member, takes on 2024 U20 World bronze medalist Melanie Nahomi Jimenez Villalba of Mexico in the sixth match on the card.

Amanda Martinez, a past age-group World Team member, is set to face Zeltzin Hernandez Guerra of Mexico in the seventh match of the night. Hernandez Guerra is a 2024 U23 World silver medalist, and has performed well internationally since 2018.

Nathan Tomasello, a three-time Senior National Team member, four-time NCAA All-American and 2015 NCAA Champion, sees Daniel DeShazer in the first match on the main card. DeShazer has had recent success internationally, most recently competing at the Zagreb Open Ranking Event in Croatia.

The second match on the main card features 2021 U23 World bronze medalist Jay Aiello and 2024 Bill Farrell Memorial International gold medalist Marcus Coleman.

A trio of high school matches will kick the night off, with Cruzer Dominguez facing Eithan Humphrey, Abdi Unle taking on Alexander Pierce, and Riley Johnson battling Lincoln Jipp. The full card, in match order, is below.
