TRENTON, N.J. – Lock Haven overtook Central Michigan on the final day of the 2025 Mid-American Conference Wrestling Championships to claim the program’s third team title in four years. Anthony Noto, Wyatt Henson and Gavin Hoffman were individual champions for the Bald Eagles.

The Lock Haven run started in the 133-pound final when top-seeded Noto, who changed weight classes before this season, earned his fourth title with a 5-1 victory over second-seed Sean Spidle of Central Michigan.

“It means a lot, when I came here as a freshman from NC State, I was like a new bird, and I trusted Coach Moore, Coach Perry and Coach Weikel and Coach Wert to get me to the next level, they did and just every year, I’ve seen my growth and to come out on top with four MAC titles just means a lot to me, and I’m really happy to represent Lock Haven for it.”  Noto said following his win.

In the 141-pound class, top-seeded Henson dominated second-seed Andrew Austin of Central Michigan, with a 23-3 technical fall. The wins by Noto and Henson were critical in Lock Haven’s separation over the talented Chippewas squad.

“I mean, it’s huge, especially with these group of guys.” Henson noted following his win. “I love these guys. It’s just huge, but the job is not finished. We gotta go to nationals and do our thing”

The first upset of the finals came at 157 when third-seed redshirt sophomore DJ McGee from George Mason handled top-seed Johnny Lovett from Central Michigan, 8-1, in sudden victory. The win helped George Mason move up in the standings past host-team Rider.

The other finals upsets, according to seed, came from No. 2 Garrett Thompson of Ohio over top-seeded Alex Cramer from Central Michigan in the 174-pound final, while second-seeded Gavin Hoffman, a redshirt senior from Lock Haven, sealed the MAC title with an 8-3 win over Ohio’s top-seeded redshirt freshman Jordan Greer. The only finals loss Lock Haven suffered came in the 197-pound final when three-seed Rider sophomore Brock Zurawski topped No. 1 seed freshman Tucker Hogan, 7-4.

Notably, Rider went a perfect four-for-four in the championship finals, clinching a top-five finish in the MAC tournament. Redshirt senior Sammy Alvarez, redshirt junior Enrique Muinguia, redshirt junior Isaac Dean, and Zurawski were champions for the Broncs.

The final points were tallied with Lock Haven at the top with 121.5, second-place Central Michigan finished at 113, Edinboro tallied in third with 97.5 points, George Mason scored 94 points, and host-team Rider rounded out with 92.5 to finish in the top five.

“It’s incredible. it’s surreal. I mean these guys are just the greatest group of young men that are training to believe in the process. They came into this tournament with high hopes, high expectations never gave up on themselves. Coming into day two we were down, but these guys continued to believe, and they battled back. In the end it was the effort that got the job done. So, incredible tournament, incredible performance, these guys are a special group and I’m happy they were able to get this MAC title” Lock Haven Head Coach Scott Moore said following the MAC trophy celebration.

174-pound champion Garrett Thompson of Ohio was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. The MAC Coach of the Year award was presented to Edinboro’s Matt Hill.
