Nate Jackson (Princeton, N.J./New York AC/NJRTC) has been named the USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on Feb. 28, 2024.

Jackson, competing at 92 kg, claimed the gold medal with a series of dominant performances at the 2024 Pan-American Championships in Acapulco, Mexico, last weekend. For his performance on the mat, Jackson earned the Golden Boot, awarded to the tournament’s most Outstanding Wrestler.

His tournament began with a strong 11-0 victory over Tejvir Boal of Canada, followed by a pin in just 54 seconds against Erwin Vargas Martinez of Mexico that featured Jackson leaping over his opponent for the fall.

Jackson continued his streak with a 10-0 victory over Cesar Ubico Estrada of Guatemala. His gold medal journey concluded with another quick victory by fall in just 46 seconds against Jose Betancourt Kock of Puerto Rico.

In his four matches, Jackson did not allow a single point scored against him. He spent a combined 4:31 on the mat between all matches.

The U.S. men’s freestyle team pulled off a clean sweep of the Pan-American Championships, earning 10 gold medals and not allowing a loss in all of their matches. The team won the title with 250 points, the maximum number of points earned in the team race. The U.S. also won the overall team title, as all three styles won their respective team race.
