Pennsylvania Blue wins back-to-back titles at 14U Greco-Roman National Duals after defeating Illinois, 55-17

14U Greco-Roman National Duals brackets
OAKS, Pa.— Pennsylvania Blue earned a back-to-back title at the 14U Greco-Roman National Duals after defeating Illinois 55-17 on Thursday. Greco-Roman action concluded following three rounds of color pool action at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks.
Action resumed with the second and third rounds of the color pools. In the Gold/Silver pool, Pennsylvania Blue defeated Utah and Iowa to advance to the finals. Illinois reached the finals by bringing down Michigan Blue and Ohio Red. It was Wisconsin versus Ohio Red in the third place match, as Wisconsin defeated Iowa and Utah in rounds two and three.
The Gold/Silver first-place dual got underway at 110 pounds, where Pennsylvania Blue's CJ Caines pinned Lucas Forsythe of Illinois at 3:25 to establish the momentum. Illinois’ Max Mandac answered at 114 pounds, defeating Rocco Lombardo 8–5. At 119 pounds, Pennsylvania Blue’s Austin Bernash bested Maximus Pearch at 119 pounds, winning by 8-0 technical fall. At 125 pounds, Devin Ehler of Illinois responded with a dominant 11-2 technical fall victory against Arturo Reyes.
At 130 pounds, Dominic Butera won by forfeit, helping Pennsylvania Blue to increase their lead. The next four weights were won by Pennsylvania Blue, as William McNeal, Asher Bacon, Mason Chamberlain and Sam Harrington pushed the lead to 31-9. Illinois' best moment in the dual came from 250-pounder Darrell Bibbs, who pinned Emmitt Summerlin at 3:11, but Illinois lost a point for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Giovonni Nix, competing at 71 pounds, improved Illinois's record by defeating Grayden Paris 12-8. Pennsylvania Blue’s Leo Murillo answered with an 8-0 technical fall over Aden Spinelli at 77 pounds. Nelson Villafane of Pennsylvania Blue defeated Cole Lemberg 6-2 in a close decision at 83 pounds. At 87 pounds, Illinois’ Treyden Diduch picked up the final win of the dual for his state by defeating Brennen Veverka 15–9.
The remaining four weight classes were won by Pennsylvania Blue, as Arav Pandey, Andrew Gomez, Alex Marchetti and Cole Schwartz were victorious to close out the dual.
In the Gold/Silver Pool, the final standings saw Wisconsin securing 3rd place by defeating Ohio Red 45-33, while Iowa claimed 5th place with a 55-23 victory over Michigan Blue. Minnesota Blue placed seventh by defeating Utah 50-29.
Action continues Friday, June 14, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks as freestyle competition begins. The event will be broadcast live on FloWrestling.
