General Purpose:

USA Wrestling seeks to fill a manager-level position dedicated to holistically supporting wrestling officials. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the sport of wrestling and history as a wrestling official. This person will bring a sincere love of the sport and a strong desire to position the sport for long-term growth and sustainability by working with and for wrestling officials every day. The ability to start and complete projects without significant oversight, excellent communication skills through all available communication mediums, and the ability to create and sustain positive relationships within the wrestling community are all key attributes needed for success in this position. This is a full-time, in-person position located at our Colorado Springs, Colo., office.

Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement, monitor, and improve educational materials and coursework for wrestling officials.
  • Collaborate with state associations to develop and deploy programs for recruitment and retention of wrestling officials.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and improve wrestling official evaluation processes, including feedback collection, performance documentation, and deliverance of coaching.
  • Manage officials assignments and resource allocations for USA Wrestling events.
  • Collaborate with USA Wrestling National Teams staff to manage assignments to international events.
  • Act as a liaison for the USA Wrestling National Teams coaching staff on all matters related to officiating.
  • Serve as the United States Wrestling Officials Association (USWOA) liaison for USA Wrestling.
  • Perform administrative duties related to officials support such as facilitating sign-ups and payments to officials, assignments, and travel approval and coordination.
  • Travel to wrestling events to build and maintain relationships, and to facilitate all aspects of the job responsibilities.
  • Handle other duties as assigned by USA Wrestling leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of five years relevant experience in the wrestling community as a wrestler, coach, official, or administrator.
  • Experience as a wrestling official.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, with a focus on excellent writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively in-person, on the phone, via video conference, and via all other communication platforms.
  • Experience dealing with constituents, the public, and/or administrators, including solving problems, in a professional capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and remain effective in a busy, high-volume work environment.

Travel Expectations

Domestic and international travel, including weekends and holidays, is required.

Salary Range

Compensation commensurate with experience.

$75,000-$85,000 per year

The USA Wrestling Office is located in Colorado Springs, CO - ability to work from the office is required.
