The Greg Strobel Leadership Academy (GSLA), in partnership with USA Wrestling, continues to embody the core values of Accountability, Discipline, Family, and a Lifetime of Good Habits. It’s inspiring to see how the GSLA 30-Day Challenge has grown into such a meaningful initiative. This year’s challenge runs from February 21, 2025 through March 22, 2025.
Examples of what the GLSA has done to support and participate in these initiatives include:
- Jim Davis of the Good Athlete Project shared presentations with several members of the USA Wrestling National Team Staff and with National Team Athletes in all three styles.
- Jim also shared his CARE Model on aligning behaviors with goals and values with our coaches working on their Gold Coaching Certifications task of Mentoring.
- Purchased motivational books for National Team Athletes:
- Uncommon by Tony Dungy for MFS/GR
- Wolfpack by Abby Wambach
- Recognized Athlete Advisory Council’s 2024 Athlete Leadership Award Winners, Mallory Velte & Johnny Stefanowicz, with $1,500 honorariums in recognition of their leadership efforts.
- Shared USOPC resources with National Team Coaches and Athletes on athlete support and career transition opportunities.
To those of you who have participated in or contributed to the GSLA the past five years, thank you.
“It’s clear this challenge is deeply rooted in honoring Dad's legacy and it’s admirable how it continues to impact others positively. To those who have participated in or contributed to the GSLA, I express my deepest gratitude. My sister, family, extended family, and friends are incredibly thankful. This is a heartfelt endeavor and one we care about deeply. For anyone who chooses to support the GSLA, whether through participation or generosity, we will forever be grateful.” ~ Jen Baldwin, Greg’s daughter.
The GSLA has also had the opportunity to lift up leaders in the sport of wrestling as a result of their character, leadership, voice, and how they excel on and off the mat. For 2024, those recipients include Mallory Velte & Johnny Stefanowicz.
For those who choose to support GSLA during the 2025 30-DayChallenge you can do that in two ways! Either as a participant and getting sponsors or being a part of a team and also getting sponsors to support your efforts.
This year is all about improvement and exemplifying “A Lifetime of Good Habits”. What will be your margin of improvement for 30-days? Calculations will be based on the percentage of improvement from where you started on Day 1 versus Day 30. The five categories for this year’s challenge are listed below.
- Pull-ups
- Push-ups
- Burpees
- Sit-ups
- Timed mile (run or walk)
Additional details to follow in the next article as to proper form, time limits, etc, to ensure consistency.
Day 1 is your baseline. Day 30 showcases your improvement. The goal this year is all about filling the gap. What is the percentage increase you want to claim for yourself and/or that of your team?
As far as tracking your progress physically, that is up to you and your team. Teams consist of no more than five people, including the team organizer. Please ask your sponsors to reference your team name, if applicable, when submitting to Good World. Please use the Good World link below to register, create a team, sponsor a participant or donate directly. You can also text GSLA25 to 888.335.6020 to donate.
Bonus points for sharing your goal, results, or your 30-Day journey via X, Instagram, or Facebook. Please tag GSLA accordingly on all media. See links below.
