CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech’s Caleb Henson has been chosen as the 2024-25 Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Year, while NC State’s Vince Robinson was selected as the ACC Freshman of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday, April 1. In addition, Virginia Tech head coach Tony Robie was named the ACC Coach of the Year.
The postseason individual awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches.
The NCAA runner-up at 149 pounds in 2024-25, Henson was named the ACC Wrestler of the Year for the second consecutive season. Earning All-America honors for the third straight season, Henson posted a record of 22-1 overall on the season, with his lone loss coming on a 1-0 decision in the NCAA championship match to Ridge Lovett (24-2) of Nebraska.
Ranked No. 1 at 149 pounds all season long, Henson was the 2025 ACC Champion at 149 pounds, defeating All-American Lachlan McNeil with a 4-1 sudden victory in the championship match. He also won the 149-pound titles at both the 2024 PRTC Keystone Classic and the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational.
On the season, the Cartersville, Georgia, native recorded three pinfall wins, six technical fall victories, four major decision wins, five wins by decision and four other wins by sudden victory.
In his first full season competing at the collegiate level, NC State's Robinson was crowned the 2025 NCAA Division I National Champion at 125 pounds.
Robinson became the fourth individual national champion under current NC State head coach Pat Popolizio and is the first Wolfpack wrestler to win an NCAA title since Michael Macchiavello at 197 pounds in 2018.
A redshirt freshman, Robinson became the first freshman to win the national title at 125 pounds since Spencer Lee of Iowa in 2018. Robinson went 23-3 overall on the year and picked up All-American honors for the first time in his young career.
Posting a runner-up finish at 125 pounds at the 2025 ACC Wrestling Championship, the Chicago, Illinois, native closed out his season with five consecutive wins at the NCAA Championships, culminating with a 2-1 victory in the first tiebreaker over Troy Spratley (24-5) of Oklahoma State in the finals.
Robinson finished the season with an overall record of 23-3, with two of his three losses coming by way of a medical forfeit. Over his 23 wins, four were via technical fall, seven by major decision, 10 by decision, one in a tiebreaker and one by injury default.
Henson and Robinson led 10 ACC wrestlers who finished in the top eight of their respective weight classes at the NCAA Championships to earn 2025 All-American honors.
The 2024-25 ACC Wrestling Coach of the Year honor is the fourth consecutive for Robie and the sixth in the last nine seasons.
Under Robie’s leadership in 2024-25, Virginia Tech won the ACC Wrestling Championship for the first time since 2018, led by four individual champions in Eddie Ventresca at 125 pounds, Connor McGonagle at 133 pounds, Henson at 149 pounds and Rafael Hipolito at 157 pounds.
The Hokies finished 11th overall in the team standings at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships, with a league-leading nine wrestlers competing at the national event and three grapplers earning All-America honors with top eight finishes from Ventresca (fifth), McGonagle (sixth) and Henson (second).
Robie was previously voted the ACC Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The ACC champion and runner-up in each weight class earned a spot on the All-ACC team.
