U15 Greco-Roman Outstanding Wrestler recipient and 57 kg champion Mason Milsaps of Texas with U.S. Greco-Roman Developmental Coach Cheney Haight.
LAS VEGAS – Day one of wrestling at the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open Championships featured some high-flying Greco-Roman action in the U15 division at The Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas. Texas native Mason Milsaps, who represents Boneyard Wrestling Academy, was named Outstanding Wrestler in the division after bonusing his way to the 57 kg title.
Milsaps took the 57 kg finals with a thunderous 8-0 win over New Jersey’s Jack Cole. Milsaps struck with a picturesque lefty headlock, followed by a body lock finish out of bounds, to earn a pair of four-pointers in the 26-second win. He finished the event with a 5-0 record that included three technical falls and two pins.
Three more athletes picked up bonus-point wins in the U15 Greco-Roman finals—Evan Cies of Steller Trained Wrestling at 48 kg, Sam Harrington of Bad Karma Wrestling at 75 kg and Daniel Jackson of Southern Illinois Bulldog Wrestling at 85 kg. Cies and Harrington earned technical fall wins in the finals, while Jackson scored the lone pin of the championship round.
At 44 kg, Arav Pandey of American Dream Wrestling took top prize with a 5-2 win over Evan Restivo of M2 Training Center in the championship bout. Pandey was a third-place finisher at this event last year, the highest returning placer of any champion. He also took first at the 2024 USA Wrestling 14U Greco-Roman Nationals.
A familiar name atop the division was 68 kg champion Tommy Rowlands of Ohio Crazy Goats Wrestling, the namesake of 2007 U.S. World Team member and Ohio State great Tommy Rowlands. The younger Rowlands edged Stetson Gabel of Bear Cave Wrestling Club, 6-4, for the title in one of the more competitive matches of the evening session.
Additional champions in the U15 Greco-Roman division were Johnathan Thompson of Sebolt Wrestling Academy at 38 kg, Ty Martin of Immortal Athletics Wrestling at 41 kg, Lewis Davis of Threestyle Wrestling of Oklahoma at 52 kg and Riley Watts of MWC Wrestling Academy at 62 kg.
Placers from Wednesday’s event earned points toward a U15 Pan American Team berth, which will be decided based on combined results from the Greco-Roman and freestyle tournaments. Medal match results and the top eight placers in each weight class are listed below.
The 2025 CLAW U.S. Open Championships continues on Thursday with a full slate of wrestling that includes Senior Greco-Roman and women’s freestyle, U20 Greco-Roman, Masters Greco-Roman, U15 freestyle and the National Girls High School Recruiting Showcase. A detailed schedule of events is available at usawrestlingevents.com.
All the action from Las Vegas will be broadcast live on FloWrestling. Brackets and match-by-match results are available through USA Bracketing, USA Wrestling’s new best-in-class event management software.
