U.S. receives draws for Senior division of Klippan Lady Open in Sweden

The United States received its draws for the Senior division at the 2025 Klippan Lady Open in Klippan, Sweden, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

A team of 11 U.S. wrestlers, all who are currently competing at the age-group levels, will wrestle in the Senior division of this annual respected tournament.

Three past age-group World Team members will wrestle in the Senior division, Everest Leydecker (53 kg), Savannah Cosme (62 kg) and Destiny Rodriguez (68 kg).

Leydecker, who wrestled in the 2023 U17 World Championships and also qualified for the 2024 U17 World World Team, will face the winner of the match between 2022 Taipei U17 World Team member Ciao Yun Li and 2021 World School Combat Games silver medalist Lisette Bottker of Estonia.

Cosme, a 2022 U20 World Team member, has drawn 2021 U23 European bronze medalist Eyleen Sewina of Germany.

Rodriguez, a 2022 U20 World Team member, will battle 2023 U17 World bronze medalist Melina Samsonsen of Norway in her opening match.

There are two members of the USA Wrestling Elite Accelerator Program (EAP) wrestling in the Senior tournament, Alexandria Alli (72 kg) and Carissa Qureshi (53 kg). Alli and Qureshi train full-time at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center.

Qureshi opens against Susan Larsen of Sweden. Alli is in the three-athlete Pool A of her weight class. She will compete against both  2024 U20 World bronze medalist Elvira Ersson of Sweden and then 2024 Bill Farrell Memorial silver medalist Faith Telford of Canada in her Group competition.

Bella Williams, a past 16U Nationals champion, will open against Tindra Dalmyr of Sweden, a 2021 U17 World silver medalist.

The Senior division will begin on Saturday, February 15, and conclude on Sunday, February 16.

There are three U.S. U17 wrestlers competing today and Saturday. Results will be posted in a separate article.
