Chance Marsteller (Reading, Pa./Titan Mercury WC/NJRTC) has been named the USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on February 27, 2025.

Marsteller earned gold in men’s freestyle at 86 kg at the Muhamet Malo Ranking Event in Tirana, Albania, on Wednesday. In the gold medal match, Marsteller defeated 2023 Asian champion Bolat Sakaev of Kazakhstan, 2-0.

He led 1-0 through the first period after Sakaev was called for passivity. A step out point early in the second period allowed Marsteller to pull ahead and earn his third international medal of the year.

In the semifinals, Marsteller was in command in a 4-0 victory over 2023 European bronze medalist Sebastian Jezierzanski of Poland. Masteller scored the only takedown in the match in the first period, and added a shot clock point and a step out.

Holding a 4-0 lead, Marsteller hit a dump for four points and pinned in Rustem Myrzagaliyev of Kazakhstan at 1:17 in the quarterfinals. Throughout the tournament, Marsteller outscored his opponents 14-0 without conceding a single point.
