NEWTON, Iowa — Oklahoma State and Northern Iowa, set to meet this Friday, are among the Top-5 Dual teams and feature 20 individual wrestlers who are ranked in WIN Magazine’s Jan. 20 rankings, presented by Cliff Keen Athletic.

Both teams stand 9-0 on the season with the Cowboys rated No. 3 and the Panthers ranked No. 5 in WIN’s Dual-Team Rankings. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State remains the No. 2 team and Northern Iowa is No. 7 in WIN’s Tournament Power Index, which projects where teams could finish in this March’s NCAA Division I Championships … based on individual rankings.

The following is a breakdown of those individual TPI points per ranking: 20 for 1st, 16 for 2nd, 13.5 for 3rd, 12.5 for 4th, 10 for 5th, 9 for 6th, 6.5 for 7th and 5.5 for 8th. Wrestlers ranked 9-12 earn two points each, followed by one and a half points for wrestlers ranked 13-16 and one point for those ranked 17-20.

In the OSU-UNI dual on Friday, that could include Panther Parker Keckeisen, ranked No. 2 at 184 pounds, versus the Cowboys’ No. 3-ranked Dustin Plott in a rematch of last year’s NCAA final, won by Keckeisen. Another Top-10 matches could happen at 141 pounds where OSU’s No. 4 Tagen Jamison could face UNI’s No. 5 Cael Happel.

Penn State remains No. 1 in both the Dual-Team and TPI rankings and features three top-ranked wrestlers: Tyler Kasak (157), Mitchell Mesenbrink (165) and Carter Starocci (184). Iowa, ranked No. 2 in the dual rankings and No. 3 in the TPI, features two No. 1-rated wrestlers: Drake Ayala (133) and Stephen Buchanan (197).

The remaining top-ranked wrestlers at their weights are Purdue’s Matt Ramos (125), Ohio State’s Jesse Mendez (141), Virginia Tech’s Caleb Henson (149), Missouri’s Keegan O’Toole (174) and Minnesota’s Gable Steveson (Hwt).
