Evan Wick named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare

Evan Wick (San Gabriel, Calif./Titan Mercury WC) has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on November 13, 2024.

At the 2024 Bill Farrell Memorial International in New York City, Wick secured a gold medal at 79 kg, going 4-0 and winning all matches by technical fall in a five-athlete round robin. There were three weight classes which were round-robins, and two of the gold medals at these weights went to U.S. athletes, Wick at 79 kg and Eric Schultz at 92 kg.

Wick opened his tournament with a 10-0 technical fall over Canada’s Koen Poirier in just 50 seconds. He continued his dominance in the early rounds with wins over U.S. rivals, securing a 10-0 technical fall over Kennedy Monday and a 13-2 technical fall over Joey Lavallee.

Wick completed his tournament with a 10-0 technical fall over Sierra Leone’s Alfred Daniel in just 26 seconds, sealing his gold medal victory in the final round.
