Prepare for the next level at SPIRE Academy – now taking wrestling applicants

by SPIRE Academy and USA Wrestling

Young wrestlers looking to elevate their game while preparing for life post-high school consider SPIRE Academy and its comprehensive wrestling and college preparatory program.

Built on 750 acres in the greater Cleveland area, SPIRE is a comprehensive academic, athletic, personal skills and college-and-career development boarding school located at the heart of a world-class event and wellness complex. 7500 sq. ft. of that space is dedicated solely to the needs of young wrestlers, including a weight room, a recovery room and a state-of-the-art wrestling room.

“SPIRE Academy is a unique place. It’s a one-stop shop. What I mean is we have performance. We have wrestling. We have nutrition. We have mindset. All in one spot. We have it all right here on campus,” so says Mike Kulczycki, head wrestling coach at SPIRE. It’s as good an encapsulation as any for why a motivated teen athlete interested in taking his or her wrestling skills to the next level might want to consider doing so at SPIRE.

In addition to time spent on the wrestling mat, student athletes have year-round access to a performance coach, a sports nutritionist and a sports psychologist. SPIRE also offers an academic schedule that mimics a college schedule, to prepare student-athletes for what may lie ahead if they choose to pursue their sport at that level.

For those individuals on-the-fence with the boarding school experience or looking for a taste of what the SPIRE Academy wrestling program can offer, SPIRE hosts a three-day summer wrestling camp for young wrestlers.

“It’s amazing when you have a group of kids that all have the same intense attitude and level of commitment,” offers Kulczycki. “All of our athletes are looking to get to that next level, whether it's going to the Olympics or to college, and becoming not just better athletes but better people.”
