12 win double titles after claiming Greco-Roman gold at Masters Nationals on Thursday

The second day of the 2025 Masters National Championships in Las Vegas featured Greco-Roman action.

There were 12 double champions at this year’s Masters Nationals, winners of both the Greco-Roman and the freestyle tournaments this year. They were:

Rudy James was able to achieve a major feat this year, what the Masters community calls an “Ironman.” In addition to winning the double title here in Las Vegas, he was also the 2025 Masters Nationals champion in Folkstyle, which he won at the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals in Iowa in March.

James secured the Ironman designation, winning all three matches in his four-athlete round-robin, including a 6-1 victory over runner-up John Gillis of the Ringers WC.

There were 14 repeat champions in Greco-Roman, athletes who were 2024 Masters Greco-Roman champions and won again in Greco-Roman again this year:

There was a big presentation prior to the evening session, as USA Wrestling President Bruce Baumgartner and Executive Director Rich Bender presented rings to the 2024 U.S. Veterans World Freestyle Team, which won the team title at the Veterans World Championships for the fourth straight year.
