Antonio Mills celebrates his win over two-time age-group World champion Domenic Munaretto at 57 kg.
LAS VEGAS – Six returning champions in the U20 men’s freestyle division remain in the hunt for repeat bids following Saturday’s action at the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open Championships. The U20 men whittled brackets down to the quarterfinals at The Expo at World Market Center.
Two-time U17 World champion and No. 1 seed at 57 kg Domenic Munaretto of Illinois was upset in the round-of-32 by Georgia native Antonio Mills in emphatic fashion, 13-0. Mills followed with a 12-1 technical fall over Koufax Christensen to advance to the quarterfinals. Munaretto was the lone No. 1 seed to go down on Saturday.
Defending champions in the division include 2024 U20 World medalists Bo Bassett (65 kg), PJ Duke (70 kg) and Ladarion Lockett (74 kg), 2023 U20 World medalist Camden McDanel (97 kg), 2024 U20 World Team member Connor Mirasola (92 kg) and Aeoden Sinclair (86 kg), who was the 92 kg runner-up in the Senior men’s freestyle division on Saturday. The six-pack scored bonus point wins in all but one match during the preliminary rounds.
Bassett, Duke, Lockett and Mirasola were members of last year’s U20 World Team, as was 2024 U20 World bronze medalist Justin Rademacher. The Beaver Dam Wrestling RTC product and No. 1 seed at 97 kg won his only bout of the day 10-0 to set up a quarterfinal against 2024 U20 Greco-Roman World Team member Soren Herzog.
2024 U17 World champion Michael Mocco went 2-0 with two shutout technical falls at 125 kg. The heavyweight quarterfinals are littered with talent, including the likes of 2022 U17 World champion Koy Hopke, 2024 U17 Freestyle Nationals champion Dreshaun Ross and returning U20 finalist Cole Mirasola.
Other notable quarterfinalists include 2022 U17 World champion Joseph Sealey at 74 kg, 2023 U17 World bronze Brock Mantanona at 79 kg and 2022 U17 World bronze Max McEnelly at 86 kg.
The U20 men’s freestyle competition resumes at 10 a.m. (PT) on Sunday morning with the quarterfinals, followed directly by the semifinals. The championship finals are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. (PT). A detailed schedule for the 2025 CLAW U.S. Open Championships is available at usawrestlingevents.com.
All the action from Las Vegas will be broadcast live on FloWrestling. Brackets and match-by-match results are available through USA Bracketing, USA Wrestling’s new best-in-class event management software.
