Zaylyn Woods named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare

Zaylyn Woods (Fort Worth, Texas/Spartan Mat Club) has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on December 26, 2024.

At the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Tour of America – Stockyard Stampede, Woods went 4-0 to take first place in the Middle School Girls division at 115-121 pounds. She had two wins by technical fall and two pins in a round robin bracket, only allowing her opponents three points between the four matches.

This is Woods’ fourth year competing in the event. She previously won titles in 2019 (10U Girls 62-68), 2022 (12U Girls 89-99), and 2023 (Middle School Girls 101-112). Earlier this year, Woods won the 14U Girls 115-pound bracket at the Kid’s Folkstyle Nationals, and the 6th-8th girls 120-pound bracket at the Brian Keck Preseason Memorial Nationals in October.

Woods is also a 2019 9U Women’s Nationals champion, 2021 10U Women’s Nationals champion and a 2023 12U Women’s Nationals champion.
